Our Staff
Dr. McCallister
Hello, I am Dr. Michael McCallister. I am a native New Mexican. I graduated from college at New Mexico State University with a Bachelor’s in Animal Science and attended Veterinary School at Kansas State University, where I graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1984.
My wife, new baby girl, Dianne, and I returned to New Mexico to start a rewarding career in Veterinary Medicine at Rio Bravo Animal Clinic for my long-time mentor Dr. Stan Agenbroad. He taught me to always be honest and work hard for the benefit of the animal as well as the owner.
Village Veterinary Hospital became my reality on August 11, 1987. It is a true, mixed practice, and we have always strived to be the best we can be and serve our clients very well. To that end, I strive to equip the hospital with the best medical equipment and the best staff possible. I am very proud of both. My wife of 30+ years, Sandy, and I have three children, Dianne, Robert, and David. The kids have been raised around Veterinary Medicine their entire lives and have all been employed at the hospital at one time or another. We are very proud of our kids and the adults they have become. I have always been associated with 4-H and FFA and strive to help these organizations through leadership or service. I try to help the county fair as much as possible and keep Valencia County rural. It is important for us to foster our rural values and experiences for future generations.
My hobbies and interests have been in rodeo, team penning, shooting and hunting, boating, and the many endeavors of our children. We have one boxer named Captain Woodrow Call. I also own a Quarter Horse named Mow.
Dr. Herron
Hello, my name is Dr. Brandon Herron. I have been a doctor with Village Veterinary Hospital since graduation from Colorado State University in 2011. I grew up in Roy New Mexico and was active member in 4-H and FFA showing sheep, pigs, and cattle.
I have recently become a partner with Dr McCallister and as such plan to continue my professional career here as a partner/ owner of Village Veterinary Hospital. I enjoy working with both small animals and large animals. I enjoy theriogenology, small animal surgery, and general preventive medicine.
I met my wife Melinna in 2016, and we were married in September of 2021. We are proud parents of 1 little boy, Brantley who was born Christmas of 2022.
My hobbies outside of work consist of spending time in the mountains whether that be hunting, fishing, hiking, horseback riding or jeeping. I have 2 dogs, 2 cats, a horse and a pet goat.
Dr. Estrada
Hi, I am Dr. Larisa Estrada. I was born and raised in the small town of Reserve, NM. I attended college at New Mexico State University and received a Bachelors degree in Animal Science with a minor in both Chemistry and Spanish. Following graduation, I attended Washington State University and became a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, class of 2021.
Growing up I was heavily involved in 4-H and FFA, raising and showing horses, cattle, sheep, pigs, rabbits, cats and dogs. My main hobbies include reading, horseback riding, camping and hiking, basketball and other various sports, and doing anything outdoors. Currently, 1 have two Belgian Malinois dogs, Myla and Mertagh, and two DSH cats Thalon and Tinsley.
I always knew I'd be coming back to work in New Mexico, and when coming across Village Veterinary Hospital on my search for a job, I knew it was the practice I was going to thrive in. With the two senior veterinarians Dr. McCallister and Dr. Herron here for guidance, an amazing support staff not only with my veterinary technicians, but with the front receptionist’s, my time as an associate veterinarian here would be the best I could ask for.
Sandy
Hi, my name is Sandy McCallister, and I am the proud wife of Dr. Mike McCallister. I am also the Practice Manager of Village Veterinary Hospital. We have had a great adventure in the past 30+ years with this wonderful business.
I have an associate’s degree in Business from New Mexico State University. We started this business in 1987 when our children were very young. At that time, I was the receptionist, assistant, and bookkeeper. When necessary, my mother would come in and help answer phones or babysit the kids while we worked long hours. Through the years, we have added to our staff and have been very fortunate to put a great team together.
We are very proud of our children, Dianne, Robert, and David. Our daughter graduated from New Mexico State University with two degrees in four years in 2005 and moved to Arizona. She is now working with a great firm and continues to broaden her future. Robert has been fortunate to have traveled and lived all over the United States as well as Africa. He has his own business now and buries fiber like all over New Mexico. He is now settled down with a beautiful wife and a baby girl, Macee, born in 2022. David also has his own business in agriculture and also has a beautiful wife. They have 3 wonderful kids, Daxden, Brieley and Ryder. We are so blessed to have a close relationship with all our kids and grandkids.
Our family has raised several animals through the years and had great fun doing so. Our children show pigs and lambs through the 4-H and FFA programs. If you have never raised pigs before, you would be extremely surprised at how much personality they really have. We have great memories from that time.
We currently have one Australian Shepherd and cattle. We have put together such a wonderful staff that I am very proud of. They are also our family (Village Veterinary Family). They take pride in what they do and enjoy there relations with our clients.
Celina
Greetings, my name is Celina and I am pleased to be the office manager here at Village Veterinary Hospital since 2022. One of my favorite aspects of the job is interacting with our valued clients and their beloved animals.
I reside in Bosque Farms alongside my family, which includes my cherished four-year-old son. We share a passion for the outdoors and love spending time together swimming, hiking or strolling. Our two dogs are our constant companions, accompanying us on our adventures. Recently, we rescued a puppy who was brought into the hospital and he has quickly become my son's best friend. I am fortunate to have the convenience of being employed so near to my home and loved ones.
I am appreciative to be part of a team of outstanding individuals here at Village Veterinary Hospital. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to introduce myself.

In my spare time, I help my husband with his business. I enjoy gardening, working in my yard, and watching NASCAR and NHRA Drag Racking on Sunday afternoons.

Hey, I'm Mia! I'm the receptionist here at Village Veterinary Hospital. I'm from sunny Arizona, but I made the move to New Mexico in 2022. In my down time I love traveling, drawing and reading.

While growing up I was involved in 4-H, FFA, raising and showing animals and competing in Rodeo. Animals have always been a huge part of my life.
I now live on a couple acres in the mountains with my fiancé, and our beautiful daughter. Luckily, my daughter shares the same love for the outdoors and animals. We have 4 dogs, chickens, 4 horses and a miniature donkey.
Some hobbies of mine are gardening, riding horses, hiking, and Karaoke.
