Hello, I am Dr Michael McCallister. I am a native New Mexican. I graduated college at New Mexico State University with a Bachelor in Animal Science and attended Veterinary School at Kansas State University, where I graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1984. My wife, new baby girl, Dianne, and I returned to New Mexico to start a rewarding career of Veterinary Medicine at Rio Bravo Animal Clinic for my long time mentor Dr. Stan Agenbroad. He taught me to always be honest and work hard for the benefit of the animal as well as the owner.
Village Veterinary Hospital became my reality August 11, 1987. It is a true mixed practice and we have always strive to be the best we can be and serve our clients very well. To that end I strive to equip the hospital with the best medical equipment and the best staff possible. I am very proud of both. My wife, Sandy, of 30+ years and I have three children, Dianne, Robert, and David. The kids have been raised around Veterinary Medicine their entire lives and have all been employed at the hospital at one time or another. We are very proud of our kids and the adults they have become. I have always been associated with 4-H and FFA and strive to help these organizations by leadership or service. I try to help the county fair as much as possible and keep Valencia County rural. It is important for us to foster our rural values and experiences for future generations.
My hobbies and interests have been in rodeo, team penning, shooting and hunting, boating, and on the many endeavors of our children. We have one boxer named Captain Woodrow Call. I also own a Quarter Horse named Mow.
